Welcome

This site aims to pull together research and recollections about the history of the Vaughan Johnson family. Johnson is a very common name, and Vaughan has been used for several generations as one of the names given to children, partly as a way of distinguishing this family from other Johnsons. It is said that Vaughan Alfred Johnson contemplated changing the family surname by deed poll to Vaughan-Johnson, but that was never done. Not all of his descendants were given the name Vaughan, but many of them were.
The site is also concerned with the relatives of the women who married into the family. This includes the Cassell family, the Hinton family and the Le Bas family.
